You rarely hear Christians criticizing other religions. Mainly you hear them criticizing atheists and atheism. Yet the first commandment clearly states that belief in any other god is a sin. It also says that non belief is a sin.
But isn’t belief in a false god a greater sin?
Religions seem to be aligned in their universal fear of atheism, and they have a unwritten rule to pretty much leave each other alone. Though the big three religions consider each other to be a sin, they don’t act like it. They only actively condemn lack of belief. As if belief in a false god is a lesser sin than no belief in a god. That belief in any god is better than no belief.
Atheists only represent a small percentage of the overall population and “false” believers represent a majority of the population. So false believers present a greater threat, a larger pool of sinful activities. Christians should be focusing their activities on condemning and dealing with these false believers rather than the non believers.
Atheism doesn’t have a prohibition against religion but religions have prohibitions against each other. These prohibitions are written into their doctrine. So it’s not a casual dislike, it’s an official position that it’s a sin.
This is why i don’t understand why Christians are so quick to condemn atheists yet are basically silent about the sinful “false” believers which actually represent a majority of the worlds population.
