Contraception, abortion, and homosexuality have one thing in common… they don’t produce children. And this is the historical source of prejudice against them.
For tens of thousands of years early mankind needed additional hands for hunters and laborers, tribes and governments needed new soldiers and taxpayers, and churches needed new believers and tithers. All these institutions needed more and more babies to grow up and serve them.
As religions developed they encompassed these social needs into their belief systems and dogmas. Now, thousands of years later, society has changed and over population is threatening the planet. But religious are still treating people as a commodity by continuing to call for a prohibition against these activities because they don’t produce children.
The new world reality is the need for these very things that religions are prohibiting… voluntary population control in the forms of contraception, abortions and homosexuality. As long as religions continue to treat people as a commodity, the represent a threat to individual liberty and freedom of choice.
